Dazzling Nights in the Old City

The festival was a family-friendly event, suitable for all ages with much to see and do. Participants could choose to walk along one of three trails through the Christian, Jewish, and Arab quarters, or travel freely between them. The trails were filled with three-dimensional light sculptures; videos projected against the walls of the old buildings; and even fire shows. This year, for the first time, the festival included a novel circus known as “Q” which featured lit elements, music, acrobatics, and acting with a storyline that encompassed thirteen different acts.

Photo by Andrew Pilcher Israeli artists were joined by seven of the greatest light sculptors in the world to produce this years’ event, put on by the Jerusalem Development Authority and the Ariel Municipal Company. It was estimated that more than 250,000 people visited the annual festival, now in its fifth year.
