Parts of this road were first discovered in 1894 and 1897, some more in 1937, and more yet in 1961–67, but all were covered and filled after the excavations ended. The road ascends from the Pool of Siloam (outside of Hezekiah’s Tunnel) up to the Temple Mount.
More and more, we are getting the picture of what first-century Jerusalem really looked like!
