Yad Vashem Database Reunites Sisters

June 26, 2005

The database has three million names listed in pages of testimony. Since November, it has had over 3.3 million hits. As a result, several long-lost relatives have found each other, in some cases, while seeking information about another mutual relative.

In February, it was reported that two Czech sisters, Hannah Katz and Klara Blaier, who had not seen each other since 1939, were reunited. They met again thanks to Katz’s granddaughter, who had been searching the database for information on Katz’s mother.

As far as Yad Vashem is aware, there have been at least 20 cases of relatives finding each other through the database.
