Tourists Rank Israel 4.2 out of 5

March 2, 2005

Interestingly, 80% of visitors from Britain described their visit as “very good” or “excellent,” according to a new survey conducted by the firm Geocartographia during the first half of 2004. This followed a recent survey by the British newspaper Daily Telegraph, showing Britons have a largely negative opinion of Israel.

Geocartographia’s statistics were compiled from a sample of 1,769 British visitors. Some 36% of the respondents stated their visit was “excellent,” 44% said it was “very good,” 17% described their experience as “good,” and 3% called it “reasonable” or “poor.” In 2004, 140,000 tourists arrived from Britain, a 44% rise over 2003. In 2005, Israel’s Tourism Ministry expects an additional 20% more British tourists.

In total, 14,000 tourists from around the world participated in the ministry’s survey. Some 80% of all tourists also described their visit to Israel as either “excellent” or “very good” and, on average, assigned their satisfaction a value of 4.2 out of 5. The survey reveals that 73% of all tourists were not concerned about traveling to Israel, and 95% of them would encourage their friends also to visit the country.
