Dr. Amos Porat, head of the climatology branch at the Israel Meteorological Service, told Bridges for Peace in early April that the rainfall situation in Israel is still a point of concern. “I believe it still is serious because it means that maybe the situation doesn’t become worse after such a winter, but it doesn’t improve enough.” He said a heavy rainy season was still needed.

Porat said that based on their forecast heading into the rainy season, the primary rainy season was below expectations, despite the above-average rainfall. Nonetheless, it could be worse. Said Porat, “It would be much worse if it was like last year or like two years ago.”
