Age Limit for Organ Donors Expanded

May 8, 2006

Because of these successes, the Rabin Medical Center (RMC) at the Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikvah has decided to change the age limit for organ donors, which will greatly expand the supply. Doctors at the medical center contribute the successes to having had a lot of experience with transplants and new medical developments.

RMC, a 1,300-bed hospital, has saved more lives through organ transplantations than any other hospital in Israel. In 2005, 144 lives were “reborn,” giving 33 people new livers, 33––new lungs, 9––new hearts, and 68—new kidneys.Dr. Dan Oppenheim, CEO of RMC, proudly remarked, ‘’RMC is the only hospital in Israel specializing in all organ transplantations and has on our staff top experts and specialists in this field. We are proud to stand alongside leading organ transplantation facilities worldwide.”
