Ahmadinejad’s October Visit to Lebanon

December 1, 2010

…Lebanon changed the hostility equation in the region and tilted the balance in favor of its people. We are two peoples that love each other. We have joint interests. The discussions were positive and constructive, and we signed a series of agreements…We want Lebanon to be united and strong. We'll stand by it with all our power.”

Lebanon President Michel Suleiman

“The world should know that eventually the Zionists will be forced to go and will not last long. They are enemies of humanity and will have no choice but to surrender. Palestine will be liberated through the force of faith…”

He slammed Israel, saying both Iranians and Lebanese “object to the occupation and crimes of the Zionist enemy. We object to all the acts of aggression undertaken by the Zionist entity. We back a return by Palestinian refugees to their occupied homeland. We endorse a bitter struggle against Zionist aggression.”

“Zionists are the enemies of humanity…The Zionist regime will not last long.”

—Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

“We hope Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visits Gaza, but we must remain logical because such a step would involve a series of dangers.”

—Dr. Khalil Abu Layla, a Hamas official in Gaza to Iranian news agency Fars

Suleiman thanked the Iranian president for his country's support “in the face of Israeli aggression and the threats being uttered by it,” and also for “rebuilding Lebanon following the July war[2006 Second Lebanon War, which started in July]…We emphasized that states have a right to make use of nuclear capabilities for peaceful purpose, and Iran has this right to, via quiet dialogue and without any threats or violence against it.”

—Lebanon President Michel Suleiman

“Unfortunately, Lebanon is rapidly turning into a satellite of the ayatollahs' regime. This is tragic for Lebanon, but Israel will know how to defend itself against such developments…We've heard cursing and abomination from the Lebanon border today…The best answer to these blasphemies was given here 62 years ago [with the founding of modern Israel]. We shall continue building and creating our country and will be prepared to defend it.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
