“All Aboard!” – on Jerusalem’s New Light Rail

October 10, 2011

After 10 years, US $1.4 million invested, and multiple delays, passengers eagerly packed the cars to their limits for free rides until regular ticketing began some weeks later. Each light rail holds 500 people and runs its 23 stops of 13.8 km (8.5 mi), at 50 km/h (30 mph), in 42 minutes from 5:30 am to 11:30 pm, Sunday through Friday. When you next visit Israel, make a point of hopping aboard Jerusalem’s latest mode of public transportation.
