IDF Halts Gaza-bound Potassium Nitrate

March 31, 2008

Potassium nitrate is a banned substance in the Gaza Strip and in the Judea–Samaria region, because it is used for the manufacture of Kassam rockets and explosives. Israel, however, allows humanitarian aid to cross into the Palestinian territories. The terrorists used that generosity to commit their crime. This discovery highlights why Israel has intensified its concerns over border activities and their calls for greater diligence and surveillance. It highlights the absurdity of those who suggest Israel should not insist on controlling border crossings.
