In an interview with an Egyptian newspaper, Erdogan said: “[Israel] will receive a response equal to that of an earthquake.” He urged Israel's leaders to refrain from “using the relationship they have with [Turkey] as a card to wage aggression on a third party.” Ankara was given further proof that the way to Washington was paved through good relations with Israel when President Barack Obama rebuked Erdogan for his anti-Israel rhetoric, telling him it was eroding Turkey’s profile. Obama urged Erdogan to make rebuilding ties with Israel a top priority.
