This might correlate with the fact that this past year (September 2009–September 2010 on the Hebrew calendar) was the best year ever for incoming tourism in Israel with 3.1 million visitors. When a visitor to the Trip Advisor Web site clicks on “Things to Do in Jerusalem,” 74 sites are listed, again in order of travelers’ choice. Number one is Midnight Biking through Jerusalem, a surprise to many of us who live here in Jerusalem who have even heard of the option! The Western Wall came in second and Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum fourth. “Plan on seeing the major sights,” the Web site suggests, “but also leave plenty of time to walk through the streets and simply immerse yourself in the daily life of such an ancient and revered place.” We agree!
