Jobs, Wages on the Rise

In addition, over the 18 months between January 2006 and June 2007, average wages per employee reached their highest point in June 2007. The average job, when seasonally adjusted at current prices, paid NIS 7,839 (US $1,910) per month in June 2007, besting the NIS 7,792 (US $1,900) benchmark made the month prior. By comparison, in June 2006, the average wages were NIS 7,606 (US $1,855) a month. Some of the highest paying jobs in the first half of 2007 were in electricity and water supply; public administration; and banking, insurance, and finance. Some of the lowest paying jobs were in accommodation services and restaurants.
