New Arrivals Come to Fight!

October 31, 2007

And the excitement goes on! Six hundred French Jews arrived in Israel on a single day in July. According to Jewish Agency statistics, since the start of the year, the number of immigrants from France has increased by 10% compared to last year.

In a grand understatement, Israeli President Shimon Peres welcomed the new arrivals by saying, “I can’t promise you that everything is going to be easy, but I can promise you that nothing is going to be boring! Israel is the most riveting country in the world, and it has more achievements and more unsolved problems than any other. The reason for this is that we have not fully concluded anything, not peace, not boundaries, not aliyah [immigration]!”

Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger told the newcomers, “You bring great tidings for the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. You have demonstrated that our people and our country have a future.”
