Passing of a Warrior

 Ariel “Arik” Sharon
February 26, 1928–January 11, 2014

Earlier this year, Ariel Sharon lost the last fight of his life. Bridges for Peace would like to take this opportunity to offer condolences to the people of Israel in the loss of a man who, in many ways, embodied the history of the modern State of Israel.

Ariel Sharon was a sabra (native-born Israeli), soldier, farmer and statesman. Although at times controversial, there is no denying the contributions he made to the modern State of Israel. Born on an agricultural moshav under the British Mandate, he was “present at or involved in practically every seminal moment in modern Israel’s history” (www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org). He dedicated his life to the defense and development of his country.
