Technology has been developed in Israel that can decipher your emotional and physical state within a matter of seconds. It is already being used to transform the world of sales, and future applications might even diagnose physical ailments. The software was developed by Dr. Yoram Levanon, founder and CEO of eXaudios. After analyzing more than 50,000 voices speaking various languages over an 11-year period, he realized that intonation is the key to communication. Whereas he started out using only 12 emotions, the program now has over 400 in its emotional dictionary.

Nano-size Stars of David

A new type of nano-particle (one-billionth of something) resembling the six-pointed Star of David has been discovered by researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem headed by Professor Uri Banin. The Star of David-shaped particles come in sizes 10,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair! The discovery, the researchers say, may help in diagnosing diabetes or provide a catalyst to capture the sun's energy and turn it into clean fuel. Their work, they further believe, greatly contributes to understanding how hybrid nano-particles form.

Too Much Fructose Causes Liver Damage

A new Israeli study reveals that too much sweetened soda and fruit juice may cause long-term liver damage. Switching to water is the best preventive measure to contribute to long-term health. According to [Christian Arab] Dr. Nimer Assy, director of the Liver Unit at Ziv Medical Center in Haifa,people who drink more than one liter (about four cups) of sweetened beverages a day have a five times greater risk of developing fatty liver. While known culprits like sweetened carbonated soda are on the list of “no-nos,” natural and freshly squeezed fruit juices appear there, too.
