In Ezekiel 36, God speaks about the return of the Jewish people and says that He is bringing them home for the sake of His name, so the nations would know that He is the Lord. In modern vernacular, we might say that God is bringing the Jewish people to Israel so the nations will know Him as a God of character and integrity who keeps His promises. Another way that God is glorified is through our good works. Yeshua said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Our Prayer
At Bridges for Peace, our team prays that everything we do will bring glory to God. That is why we have a large sign in front of our Jerusalem Assistance Center telling all who walk by that Christians are helping them. It is why our food bags all say, in Hebrew, that Christians who love Israel are giving this food. In fact, all of our good works are for this purpose—that God will be glorified. I don’t have room to cover all we do, but let me share some of the ways Bridges for Peace is bringing glory to God.
Home Repair
Every week, we welcome new immigrants to Israel with a Tenach (Hebrew Scriptures, Gen.–Mal.), often their first. Recently, nearly 600 were distributed to children from needy homes celebrating their bar and bat mitzvah. This ceremony is a moving time when a Jewish child (12 for girls and 13 for boys) enters into the covenant of his/her people. We were blessed to be able to give each child a new Bible. Our prayer is that they will read them not only as they prepare for their traditional bar mitzvah Torah (Gen.–Deut.) reading but throughout their lives.
Significant Times
“For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory.” (Psalm 102:16). In these days, when God is fulfilling His promises to bring the Jewish people home to establish the State and to build up Zion, we are humbled and honored that our good works for them can bring glory to God. Thank you for partnering with us. Together we are letting our lights shine in Israel. Please send a generous gift for the project of your choice, so we can touch more Jewish people with the love of the Lord. Pray that all will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. Blessings from Jerusalem,
