The Lord Is Building Up Zion

May 1, 2013

He is a mighty God. Never in recorded history has a people been dispersed from their homeland for near two millennia and then returned! Yet, that is what we are witnesses to, and we are not only observers but participants. In Psalm 102:16, the psalmist tells us that “For the LORD shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer.”  He has called believers like us to partner with Him as He gathers His people, builds their ancient homeland, and cares for the needy and brokenhearted. What an awesome day to live in, and what an amazingly blessed calling He has given us!

I know the Lord is putting Israel in the hearts of His people around the world. Increasing numbers of Christians are coming to visit Israel; more churches are joining in the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem each year (first Sunday in October); pastors are speaking out on behalf of Israel; Christians in government are advocating for support of Israel in their spheres of influence; and Christians are giving to support the building of Zion through many organizations.

Finding the Best Choice

So, how do you know which organization to give your contribution to bless and build up Israel? Often I am asked about one organization or another as Christians try to determine which group to support. First, let me say that there are many good choices, and each true believer should ask the Lord where He wants them to give. Many choose to bless the people of Israel through Bridges for Peace. Let me tell you a few reasons why Bridges for Peace is a good choice.

Every day, we bless the people of Israel. That is possible because we are based in Israel!  We don’t just visit and make contributions—we live here! Our team of 70 Christian staff members personally minister the love of God as they bless the people with your gifts. We don’t just give checks—we give love!

Every day, we minister to the physical needs of 27,000 people through our two food banks. We buy food in large volume since we distribute 65 metric tons (71 US tons) each month. This means we buy at better wholesale prices, which means that your gift feeds more people with more food. Our more than 20 years of experience make us more efficient. We have the equipment, the know-how, the staff, and the contacts.

Every day, we communicate the fact that Christians gave to make this blessing possible. If you want the people of Israel to know that Christians gave to bless them, then you should give through a Christian organization like Bridges for Peace. There are many worthy Jewish organizations raising money from Christians, and I have no doubt that the gifts given are helping many people, However, most of the recipients have no idea that a Christian supporter of Israel helped them. At Bridges for Peace, this is a priority. Not only do they know Christians love them, but they know a Christian volunteer from Bridges who has personally touched their life.

Every day, our worldwide team seeks the Lord for His direction and blessing. We love the Lord and want to be involved in the things that matter to Him—feeding the hungry, caring for the immigrants, helping Jewish people immigrate to Israel, bringing healing to ancient hurts, and allowing our lives to be a witness of the faith within us.

Can you help us? Your financial gifts to bless Israel enable us to help in the building up of Zion. Please choose one of our projects and send a check today. When you bless Israel, you can also expect the Lord to bless you (Gen. 12:3). Would you also help spread the information in this letter? Next time someone asks you which Israel ministry they should support, would you tell them about Bridges for Peace?

Together, we are touching the hearts of 27,000 people each month as we provide them with some of their basic needs, while showing God’s love and mercy. We can touch many more if donations increase. Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement. You are a blessing to us, and to the people of Israel.
